In most municipalities, cat owners are required to make sure their pet does not wander onto other people’s property without permission. If you have an unwanted cat on your property, please consider these options to deal with the situation.
Politely ask your neighbor to keep their cat on their own property. Provide them with our information on Safety Tips for Cat Owners.
Cats can be trained not to enter your yard simply by making your property unpleasant.
The Town of St. Paul does rent cat traps, seasonally. For more information on obtaining a cat trap, contact 780-645-4522.
It is illegal to put an animal in distress, so you will need to check the trap frequently and will have to provide food, water and shelter for the trapped cat until you can arrange a pick up by local Bylaw or Peace Officers or it can be brought to the animal shelter. The cat must also not be injured by the method you use to trap and transport it. Please contact us during business hours for more information or to book an appointment to bring the cat to the shelter.
